Colocation at Caznet's Adelaide CBD facility starts at $550 per month ex GST for a quarter rack. Every rack size and power allocation is priced in the matrix below.
Pricing is fixed for the contract term, with no CPI adjustment. Setup fees apply on 12-month agreements and are waived entirely on 36-month agreements. The facility is at the Adelaide CBD facility, and rack pricing does not change with the connectivity provider you select.

Smaller than a quarter rack? A single server or appliance can be housed by the rack unit — 1RU from $135/mth including 150 W of power with outlets on both feeds, 100 Mbps of unlimited internet and an IPv4 address. Per-RU colocation →
Setup fee waived in full on 36-month agreements. Excess power beyond your allocation is charged at $350/kW in 0.5kW blocks. Higher densities than 6kW can be discussed.
What every rack includes
Quarter, half and full racks carry the same inclusions; the differences are space and power. Per-RU packages differ — see single server & per-RU.
Every rack includes three inducted people with 24/7 unescorted access, and 100 Mbps of unlimited internet on a 1 Gbps port. Rack colocation is handed off as single-mode fibre, wires-only, so your equipment must terminate 1 Gbps SMOF — see delivery. Access to your own rack is also included, with no per-visit or after-hours charge for your nominated personnel. Access to per-RU packages works differently. Faster internet, additional cross connects, remote hands and additional IPv4 allocations are charged separately.
Contract terms and setup fees
Pricing is fixed for the term. There is no CPI adjustment and no mid-term increase. Service credits, priority definitions and response targets are set out in the Service Level Agreement, available in full before signing.
How power is allocated and charged
Power, not floor space, is usually the constraint that determines what a rack costs.
Allocation, not a cap on the rack
Your kW figure is the share of power and cooling capacity reserved for you. A 42RU rack at 2kW and the same rack at 6kW differ in price because the second reserves three times the capacity.
Excess power
Power use above your allocation is charged at $350 per kW, in 0.5kW blocks, from the point it exceeds the allocation. Where the higher use is ongoing, moving up an allocation is usually cheaper.
Sizing the allocation
Size on measured consumption from existing PDUs or server management interfaces rather than on nameplate ratings.
A+B feeds
Power is delivered to every rack on two independent feeds, so the loss of one does not interrupt equipment with dual power supplies. Single-supply equipment should be planned for accordingly.
Connectivity, remote hands and IP
Ordered as required, alongside any rack size. All prices exclude GST.
| Service | Price (ex GST) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Additional inducted person | $25/mth | Beyond the three free per rack, plus a one-off $150 induction each. |
| Additional fibre cross connect (SMOF) | $70/mth | No setup charge. Per connection, single-mode fibre. One included with every rack. |
| Remote hands — business hours | $180/hr | 15-minute increments. |
| Remote hands — after hours, pre-arranged | $270/hr | 1 hour minimum. |
| Remote hands — after hours, unplanned | $385/hr | 2 hour minimum. |
| Internet — 100 Mbps | Included | Unlimited data, on a 1 Gbps port. |
| Internet — 1 Gbps | $340/mth | $306/mth on a 36-month term. |
| Internet — 10 Gbps | $2,760/mth | $2,556/mth on a 36-month term. |
| Additional IPv4 — /29 (6 usable) | $45/mth | Larger allocations from $85/mth. |
| BYO IP space advertised via BGP | $100/mth | No public ASN required on your end. |
Full internet and IP detail, including larger IPv4 allocations and APNIC justification requirements, is on the data centre internet page. Cross connect ordering is covered under carriers and cross connects. Site and cloud connectivity — dark fibre, managed Ethernet and private cloud connections — is quoted per requirement.
What a deployment actually costs
Three configurations we are asked for regularly, priced end to end. All figures monthly, ex GST, on a 12-month term.
Disaster recovery rack
A council or medical practice replicating to a second site.
Server room replacement
A multi-site practice retiring a head-office server room.
Platform hosting
A provider hosting infrastructure for resale to its own customers.
Setup fees are additional on a 12-month term and waived on a 36-month term. These are illustrative configurations, not packages — any rack size combines with any add-on.
Comparing colocation quotes fairly
Headline rack rates are rarely comparable between providers without checking what sits underneath them.
What power is included
A cheaper rack with a lower kW allocation is not cheaper if your equipment needs the higher one. Compare at the allocation you will actually draw, not at the entry rate.
Cross connect charges
Interconnection is where colocation bills commonly diverge. Confirm how many cross connects are included, what each additional one costs, and whether the structured cabling run to the carrier room is charged as a one-off build.
Access and remote hands
Check whether access to your own rack is charged, whether after-hours access differs, and what the minimum billing increment for remote hands is. A two-hour minimum on a ten-minute reboot is a material difference.
Term and escalation
Establish whether the rate is fixed or subject to annual CPI adjustment. Over a three-year term, an escalating rate can overtake a higher fixed one.
Data charges
Confirm whether internet is unlimited or metered, and whether traffic between your rack and a cross-connected provider is counted. Metered billing makes a low headline rate difficult to forecast.
Exit terms
Ask what happens at the end of the term: notice period, any de-racking or removal charge, and how long you have to clear the rack. These are easier to agree at the start than at the end.
A fuller checklist is in our guide to what to ask before signing a colocation contract.
Frequently asked questions
-
At Caznet's Adelaide CBD facility, a quarter rack (9RU, 0.5kW) is $550 per month ex GST, a half rack (20RU, 1kW) is $850 per month and a full rack (42RU, 2kW) is $1,500 per month. Higher power allocations increase the rate — a full rack at 6kW is $2,750 per month.
-
The rack size sets the space; the kW allocation sets the share of power and cooling capacity reserved for you. This is why a 42RU rack at 2kW and the same rack at 6kW are priced differently.
-
Excess power is charged at $350 per kW, in 0.5kW blocks, from the point your use exceeds the allocation. Where the increase is ongoing, moving to a higher allocation is usually cheaper than running continuously in excess.
-
A setup fee applies on 12-month agreements — $500 for a quarter rack and $1,000 for a half or full rack. It is waived in full on a 36-month agreement.
-
No. The monthly rate is fixed for the contract term, with no CPI adjustment and no mid-term increase. The variable components are excess power beyond your allocation and any add-on services you order.
-
Redundant A+B power feeds to the rack, your kW power allocation, three inducted people, 100 Mbps of unlimited internet on a 1 Gbps handoff, 24/7 access to the facility, a secure electronic locking rack, one fibre cross connect, and 24/7 monitoring and support.
-
No. Every service includes 100 Mbps of unlimited internet, but you are not obliged to use it — transit can equally be taken from another carrier in the building, or from a provider brought in.
-
Yes. Every Caznet colocation price is quoted excluding GST.
